TWO thousand and seven was indeed the year for Malaysian writers and literature, and ending the year with a roar all the way from Terengganu was Awang Gonengs whimsical memoir, Growing Up In Terengganu. The book has hit a steady stride, gathering fans who love its gentle and humorous look at a life and a past that are almost invisible now in modern day Terengganu.

MPH GUiT

I love to see people buying,reading and talking about books.When the author of the book Growing Up in Trengganu(GUiT) invited me to the event,I just jumped at it and was there to meet him and old friends.After the event, the author Wan Hulaimi @Awang Goneng and a few friends adjourned for an afternoon tea(earl grey+black forest cake) at BOOKCAFE,inside MPH bookshop.What an enjoyable afternoon-talking about books and photography...

Getting GUiT signed by Awang Goneng

Last Saturday I attended a Literary event hosted by Ms Sharon Bakar at Seksan,67 Jalan Tempinis Satu, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. It was almost full house where four writers were invited to talk about their books and do some reading from their books.The crowd puller was my friend Wan Ahmad Hulaimi @ Awang Goneng, who hailed from Trengganu but now lives in London since 28 years ago. The interesting part of of his book is that it was started as a blog.

I look forward to see more Malaysian bloggers will publish their books from their blogs.
